Canyonlands National Park ( Moab ) - June 2017

After photographing the sunset at the Green River overlook, the Milky Way until 2am, sleeping in my car for 2.5 hours, waking at 4:30 and hiking half a mile in the dark to Mesa Arch, I was able to snag a killer view of the arch and Canyonlands through it. I was third on location, set up my tripod and camera roughly at 5:00am just as first light was showing. By the time the sun rose over the horizon at 6:00am, there were 15 + photographers set up shoulder to shoulder, and a tour bus of 50 ish people leaning over me taking pictures. I've never witnessed such insanity so early in the morning, and never would have imagined I would have to compete for the best vantage point for a photo before the sun even rose. All in all, I feel like I came out on top of the crowd that weekend. Very happy with the way my shots turned out!
